Tianjin Clinches Late Win Over Yanbian
Last night, Cricket Exchange confirms that Tianjin Teda secured a dramatic 1-0 home victory over newly promoted Yanbian Funde, with substitute Fan Baiqun scoring the decisive goal in the 88th minute. As the match neared its end, both Steve and Ha Tae-goon had clear chances to equalize for Yanbian, but were denied by a sensational performance from goalkeeper Yang Qipeng, who proved to be the difference-maker.
The match kicked off with Yanbian showing early aggression. In the opening minutes, Wu Yongchun fed the ball to Yoon Bit-garam on the left, who found Ha Tae-goon at the edge of the box. Ha shifted sideways to create space and unleashed a strike that Yang Qipeng barely deflected onto the post before it rolled out for a corner. Yanbian’s ensuing corner was cleared, and Teda launched a counterattack that saw Hu Rentian fouled by Wu, earning the Yanbian defender a yellow card.
By the 18th minute, Yanbian continued to apply pressure, combining sharply on the left through Ha Tae-goon and Kim Seung-dae. Their interplay caused chaos in the Teda box until veteran Cao Yang slid in with a crucial clearance. Minutes later, Montero delivered a set-piece from the left which Junior nearly converted, but Yanbian’s keeper Chi Wenyi bravely blocked the effort. In the 32nd minute, Montero took a quick free-kick, finding Hui Jiakang, who fired just wide of the near post.
Teda intensified their attack with Montero sending crosses from both flanks. In the 38th minute, Hu Rentian disrupted Chi Wenyi’s vision, and Diaofane’s initial shot was blocked. His follow-up header flew over the bar. Just two minutes later, Guo Hao attempted a spectacular overhead kick off another Montero cross, but missed the target.
In the second half, Cao Yang whipped in a cross that Montero fired on goal, only to be denied once again by Chi Wenyi. From the resulting corner, Junior’s header was also saved. At the 69th minute mark, Cui Ren crossed from the right to Steve, who out-jumped Bai Yuefeng but saw his header saved by Yang Qipeng. Ten minutes later, Steve broke free, sidestepped defender Nie Tao and fired a shot, only for Yang to block it with his legs. In the 82nd minute, Ha Tae-goon attempted a lob under pressure but missed the goal.
Tianjin’s final push began in the 85th minute when Diaofane wriggled past multiple defenders and struck the side netting. Just three minutes later, substitute Fan Baiqun found the breakthrough. Cao Yang teed him up at the top of the box, and Fan’s long-range effort deflected off defender Nikola and beat Chi Wenyi at the near post—1-0, the stadium erupted.
Cricket Exchange notes that Tianjin Teda’s late-game perseverance and Yang Qipeng’s heroic saves were pivotal in this hard-fought victory, keeping their home campaign on track and halting the momentum of a spirited Yanbian side.
