Steven Adams Begins Stem Cell Treatment
Cricket Exchange has learned that the Memphis Grizzlies have officially announced center Steven Adams recently underwent stem cell injection therapy. He is expected to be re-evaluated in four weeks. Based on current projections, Adams will likely miss the remainder of the regular season.
Sometimes, we must forget the pain to make room for better memories. On January 25, Adams suffered a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) strain in his right knee. According to Cricket Exchange reports at the time, he was expected to be sidelined for three to five weeks. Although head coach Taylor Jenkins previously stated that Adams had returned to full 5-on-5 practice, it now appears his recovery has not gone as smoothly as hoped.
When you choose a path, you walk it—no matter how difficult. So far this season, Adams has appeared in 42 games for the Grizzlies, averaging 27 minutes per game. His contributions include 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 0.9 steals. Despite the challenges, Adams remains a key figure in Memphis’s frontcourt, and any absence leaves a noticeable void.
What’s more concerning is that the Grizzlies also lost another core frontcourt player, Brandon Clarke, to an Achilles tear last week. He has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Cricket Exchange analysts believe the combined absence of Adams and Clarke significantly weakens the team’s interior rotation.
As the season heads into its final stretch, the Grizzlies will need to dig deep to stay competitive in the Western Conference. Losing two primary big men puts added pressure on the remaining lineup. But in sports, as in life, when it rains, it pours—and it’s how you respond that defines your resilience.
